Bile Duct Cancer Question? |
My sister is a bright shade of yellow, urine and bowel color has changed and she has lost 25 pounds. She is now in the hospital and is going to have the camera inserted in her to see where the blockage is. The feeling that I recd. from the doctor last night was not a good one. My sister has no idea, and the Dr. has not said the C word, but has said there is an obstruction in the Bile Duct....I have been on line all day looking at sites and is seems as though things are not good. Has anyone heard of this cancer and can anyone tell me what their opinion is. I am leaving work this afternoon to be with her after the exploritory.... Please.. any help would be appreaciated... thank you The cancer you are referring to is called cholangiocarcinoma or cholangiohepatoma. Have you tried Googling this name? The obstruction could be mechanical though or another benign obstruction, so I would try not to read too much about cancer until you know for sure what it is after her cholangioscopy today. I can understand your fear though. I assume she has been tested for Hepatitis (causing the same symptoms). Anyway, all the best to her and take it easy on the homework. (I do the same thing and find things are rarely as bad as I had read on the net or in books). I do see a bit of this cancer in my work though( as a Palliative Care Nurse), but it is not a common one.
