Has anyone been to bereavement counselling?

If so, what happens? What sort of questions do they ask and what do you talk about?

I went for counselling after my father died, but it was broader than straightforward bereavement counselling because his death triggered other issues I already had.

The first session was just a general introduction, life history and that type of thing. We then went on to talk about life goals. Which is sometimes good to do with someone impartial outside your immediate network who isn't emotionally attached.

To be honest, counselling doesn't work for me but each to their own. If you need an outlet for your grief it's a good thing.

I did once and it wasn't for me. The woman was was way too sympathetic (sounds silly I know) but it just made me feel worse!

I would say try it if you need to though, that is just my experience.

I have not but a close friend of mine is going and I think she is finding it helpful. Couselling is meant to be a safe place so if they ask things you are uncomfortable with tell them Good luck

i have and really they talk about everything how u are how ur life is all the varibals of u life ....and how u feel about it.... good luvk

No.

A good friend of mine lost her husband at 40, she went to bereavement counselling for 6 weeks and she is in such a better place, recommend it !
