Why does the scar on my throat hurt more now then it did after the surgery? It burns now .? |
I had two benign parathyroid tumors removed in separate surgeries. The first incision was small, but they cut into the old incison and made it larger. I had my sugery on March 21st. Should it hurt more now? Sometimes it gets red above the incision. No drainage, incision looks normal. My biggest concern is the risk for infection. The incision site should be well healed by now. It's been about 6 weeks. As long as the redness doesn't increase or spread, as long as the incision site doesn't dehisce or begin to drain, and as long as the pain doesn't increase and you don't develop a temp above 99.6 you shouldn't have a problem. Due to the reincision, the burning is most likely due to prolonged healing. Healing continues for months and, in some cases, even years. It can feel sore, be a burning sensation and, of course, itch like crazy. In any case, check with your surgeon who may want you to make another postop follow up to evaluate this. Best of luck. the nerve endings are starting to repair and you are getting feeling back in the tissue, then it will start to itch, it is OK, normal The previous answer and scar tissue does not have the flexibility of regular skin |
