What is bells palsy and what affects does it have on the body? they are right in how it affects you. it took my son exactly 12 weeks to get back to normal. (the doc even predicted that). he still has one eye that reacts a little less and it has been 13 1/2 years later. it is often seen in motor cyclists because of the wind hitting their face and it is a condition of Lymes disease! It's a condition that causes the facial muscles to weaken or become paralyzed. It usually just happens to one side of the face. A relative of mine had it a few years ago and took her about 6 months to recover, but I think that varies quite a bit, too. It is a malfunction of the facial nerve that controls the muscles of the face, and typically affects one side of the face. It causes drooping of the eyelid and the mouth, and other complications might include a loss of taste, muscles spasms in the face and corneal infections (since the person is unable to close the affected eye). |
