Has anybody had bells palsy Ive had it for 7 weeks and its not getting any better? Hi i had bell's palsy when i was pregnant i know what your going through it was awful, the left side of my face was totally paralysed mine lasted about 10 weeks, it slowly got better i could twitch my mouth and close my eye a little, don't worry to much as this makes it worse, i know it's easier said than done, you will get there, hope everything gets better My sister has had it twice, and it lasted for quite a while both times. Best wishes! I work in the medical field and I can tell you that it can hang on for months. It almost always gets better - it just takes time. Just be [patient. Time is different in each case. This palsy (weakness) of the 7th Facial Nerve was originally described by Dr. Bell. It is of unknown origin although we usually blame a virus. The expected duration is 2 to 6 weeks although 8 to 12 weeks is not unheard of AND some cases are permanent. Indeed - facial muscle weakness after 12 weeks is not likely to go away. Sorry. I hope that this resolves quickly for you. Yes, I had it once...It lasted about 3 months.. what the f u c k did u just say??!!?? I'm afraid it can linger for quite a while. My ex had it at school many years ago, and everyone just thought he was a moody teenager for about 6 months, as he refused to smile - that was because only one side of his face worked and so he looked strange smiling! It DOES go. I know people who have had it. It clears up on its own within weeks but sometimes takes months for some people. A short course of prescription corticosteroid medication, such as prednisone, may reduce inflammation and swelling in the narrow, bony channel through which the facial nerve travels. Some have been helped with prescription antiviral medications, such as acyclovir (Zovirax) and famciclovir (Famvir), may limit or reduce damage to the nerve from some viral causes. My grnadma did she had it for almost four months. I woke with one side of my face drooping.Horrible.Doctor said Bells Palsy.Takes a few weeks to recover, have you had the steroids for it , and i trust your doing your facial exercises regular , i had it also cant remember how long it lasted dont think it was as long as 7 wks though , i would have imagined you would have alot of improvement by now , go to your doc again |
