Guys, why do you do this??

Hey, guys! So,. my boyfriend (and a few previous boyfriends) seem to think that its okay to fart or belch as loud as they please in front of me! I mean, it would be okay if they did it every once in a while or if they belched w/ thier mouth closed or something. Im glad that my guy feels comfortable around me and I know that its just something that humans do. God knows, I fart and belch too...but I dont do it in front of anyone. If I have to belch, I do it quietly with my mouth closed, you know! Why does he do that. I almost want to say something but I dont want to hurt his feelings or sound like a prissy Bi***! But it really is rude and kind of gross.

I think it's some sort of male behavior that hearkens back to the caveman days. It's sort of a primitive language men use to assert themselves as king of the house. You know, like the lions- whoever roars the loudest is the head of the pride. Either that or it's because society has sort of conditioned men to believe that such behavior is acceptable, in fact, expected, from them, just like spitting or any other disgusting thing they do. If it is bothering you, you really should talk to him about it. Try mentioning the action, without bringing him into it, at a time when he's not belching or farting, like maybe next time the two of you and a bunch of friends get together. You don't have to be snotty or mean about it, just be like, "You know what I hate? When guys belch and fart really loud. It grosses me out!" He'll get the message that you hate when he does that, but since you didn't specifically bring his name into the conversation, his feelings won't get hurt. You're just expressing an opinion at that point, not calling him out on his behavior.

cause we can.

tell him to stop and that you don't like it... but he'll keep doin it anyway

because we're males ;)

what comes in must come out my husband does it to and i think all guys do when they get to know u..what i hate is when they do it in a public place or in front of a bunch of people and think its funny

Because the men you date are apparently childish and immature. You need to seek out more mature partners.

Yeah my boyfriend does that too. I do not mind however. He is comfortable around me and I him. I think that is just part of a relationship. I have enough confidence to fart and burp in front of him... I am not going to hide that part of me. I say excuse me or something but why try and hide it. It is human nature.

Well, if you can't communicate about a simple thing like this, there is no hope for your relationship long term. The secret of a successful relationship is open communication. Just say "I really don't like when you do that in front of me - could you just step outside when you need to? Thanks."

If he has a hissy fit about it, then he's not much of a catch anyway, and you should look elsewhere. It would be very immature to continue this behavior if he cares for you at all.

He is being rude, tell him to stop

It's good practice for being around the guys!lol

They are hereditarally predisposed to bad manners......no other explanation. They dont do it early in the relationship...but it seems after a little while, you get the real guy exposed.

I have to conquer with the guy who wrote before me: cause they can! If it bothers you say something{I use: Oh! Baby! That's sooo hot!{sarcastically of course!}}

i think u should tell him ...... i mean, u dont want him to be some gross guy in front of anyone (or everyone) Besides, if u did that, ud want him 2 tell u ... wouldn't u?
(hey, r u accepting an answer from a guy? sorry, 'coz i experienced this in some way .....)

I am a guy that apparently is the exception to the rule, at least most of the time. When I'm around my wife or my grown male children, if the gas pain hits, I'm not going to hold it back. However, when I'm at work and I work around a lot of men, because I work at a prison, I will not relieve myself until I can get some privacy.

Well, dear, men have a different mentality than women. For the record not all men do that, and not most men do it either. It depends on how old he is and mostly how mature he is. This is often a phase only because a man is in his teenage up to 25-27 yrs old (once again depending on how mature he is). A man like this often thinks this is cool or feels comfortable doing it in front of his love one, but out of respect he shouldn't and there's really not anything cool about it. The best way to avoid it is actually to talk to him, sorry to say this to you! But it doesn't mean that you'll hurt his feelings, believe me we're all humans and we all know that it's inappropriate to do, so you can tell him something like:" honey, i want to be honest with you about something, i truly do not like it when you burp and when you fart, in front of me like that, i would really appreciate if you make the effort to stop" if he cares about you, and if he's serious about you, he should respect your wishes and make the effort to do so.
Good luck :)

Anyone--guy or girl--that does this is being rude or disrespectful. Tell him. Set your boundaries. Doing so is not being hurtful or b****y if said in a respectful manner. Let him know you would appreciate him not being rude and disrespectful. A simple "excuse me" indicates it wasn't intentional when accidents happen.

Because you should be proud of your body, and that includes all the noises it makes. You do sound kinda prissy and the type who is embarrassed easily. My gf actually gives me ratings, 1-10. on stench for farts and loudness of belches. Her farts and belches are almost always 1-3's though, they're very weak compared to mine. Her queefs however, I judge on moisture level, reverberation, and duration, and she often gets high marks for those. She really impresses me in that area. LOL, if you can laugh about it, or even be proud of it, it makes it much easier to get along with someone you live with, than to be uneasy or embarrased by it.

i think it is rude and boy dont need to do it to impress you girls so i think you should say stop or dump him

Maybe he wants you to feel comfortable around him and do it

everyone does it it just how we get things out of our body.
