I'm allergic to bees, does that mean I'm allergic to all types?

I was stung by a wasp a few years ago and I had an allergic reaction. Now I have to use an Epipen if I'm stung again. If I'm allergic to wasps, does it mean I'm allergic to yellow jackets, hornet, ect.?

Yes, you are allergic to all types. Your reaction is not to the the bee, instead, your reaction is to the venom, which is the same venom carried by a bee, wasp or yellow jacket. (It is called apitoxin poisoning.)

I would assume you would be, so make sure you carry the epipen with you at all times!

Yes I would be sure to carry your Epipen with you at all times. My Dr. told me that I am sensitive to bee stings of all kinds and the more I get stung the more of a reaction I am going to have.

I would check with your Dr. though,,,,I would hate to think of you in a panic if you were stung by a bee and you truley didnt have to worry,,,,,my neice is allergic to bees,,,so I know how scary it is ,,especially if you live in an area that there are bees .....I live in the Southwest desert area,so I rarely see a bee or wasp.....
