Does childhood bedwetting mean bi polar?

My daughter is 11. She still wets the bed at night. Not every night, but 3-4 times a week. The doc said it is somewhat normal and may last till she is 13.

Her father is bi-polar and I may be too. I was researching and ran across childhood bi-polar symptoms and bed wetting was in there. She really doesn't have any other symptoms. Is she at risk for bi polar?

My son was a bedwetter. In his case it had a physical root...he did not produce enough of the hormone that acts like an antidiretic at night. There was a nasal spray that he used for camp and sleepovers, but I did not want it to use it all the time. When he was about 13, when puberty started , the bedwetting stopped as he started to produce the hormone on his own. It was never a problem after that. His doctor says that this is the main cause of bedwetting. We never made him feel guilty about it, because we told him it was a medical problem.

If that's her only symptom, probably not. You really need to talk to her pediatrician about this, though -- I'm afraid no one here will be able to give you a lot of useful information based on the limited information you posted.

She is at risk for bipolar because her dad is, it's hereditary. Bed wetting is natural and normal. My MIL said my fiance wet the bed until 12.

I would look into urinary disorders before concluding it is bi polar. Does she have an infection? Have you cut back her beverage intake before bed? It may be normal for it to happen once in a blue moon. But 3/4 times a week is a lot for an 11 yr old. I would ask another dr for a 2nd opinion.

It might be a symptom but I highly doubt that if your child is bedwetting that it is indicative of bipolar. I'm sure they'd be showing signs of that by 11 as well.

only bc her father has it and you maybe yes but bedwetting alone doesnt indicate she has bipolar

I don't know about the assumptions you're making, but because you and her father are both mentally ill, she's more likely to suffer from some form of mental illness.
I also know that children with ADHD are very likely to become bi-polar as adults.
