13 year old girl bedwetting? |
My best friend, Amanda tells me she's embaressed about her bed-wetting. She is 13 and yet it still happens to her. It has happend a lot when she slept over in the past and still does but I used to go through with it until last year so I know what it is like. I just simply wash my sheets when she comes over and accidently wets the bed. I always tell her it's okay but she gets really upset over it. I am just wondering, is it natural for a 13 year old girl to still wet the bed? If so, could you give me some advice to give to her about how or when it could stop? And if it isn't quite natural, should she be seeing a doctor about it? In older children, and in those who fail to respond to the methods of treatment, medicines may be prescribed. Imipramine is a commonly used drug that is normally prescribed for the treatment of depression in adults. It helps correct bedwetting in about 30% of children and needs to be given for 4-6 months. The side effects of imipramine include sleepiness and mood changes. Another medicine called desmopressin, that is a derivative of the hormone vasopressin also helps in about 30% cases. This drug is given as a spray into the nose. This latter drug is expensive. Amitriptyllin 25mg at bed time is usually given in such cases. The result is found very good. You can start it with the advise of a Psychiatrist. my 13 yr old lil cousin wets the bed... bc hes lazy. he admitted it. she could have a medical problem, or an emotional problem that is causing it, I would tell her to see a doctor about it just to be on the safe side.and if her parents don't all ready know I would tell her to let them know as well. I wouldn't quite call it "natural" (not a lot of 13-year-olds wetting the bed -- there are psychological causes) but as far as problems go, it's relatively minor one. As mentioned above, treatment is very effective and discreet. She's embarrassed, so she should look into it. its not common, but its not unheard of either. some people do wet the bed at that age. its not her fault though, she should go see a doctor to see if anything can be done about it. My little sister has this too. She is 12. I would advise having her parents have her talk to a doctor about it. In my sister's case she was having really scary dreams and she is working thru them now. It could be a very simple reason like this. They have the goodnites pullups underwear at any store, they look pretty normal (for boys and girls) and fit up to 160 lbs, I would recommend she try wearing them until she grows out of it. Especially at a sleepover. It is way less embarrasing than having her friend clean the sheets, etc. Good luck. she could have a problem with her kidney she should talk to a doctor about it my cousin had the same problem Yes, it is possible. My niece was doing it at 16 plus. Take her to a homoeopath. There is remedy. you must have a serious problem.i have a advice you finished your dinner 3 hour before to sleeping. don't drink milk in night and early you get up drink hot water with lemon and you will became normal Any child above 8 years suffering from bed wetting , otherwise called as enueresis, should see a doctor. send her to a doctor. |
