How can I treat bedsores for the elderly? |
My Mother just came home from a nursing home and hospital where she had both a colonoscopy and a d & c in her uterus. She now has horrible bedsores and I don't know what to do for her. What gets rid of them and the pain? Please help!!! Make sure you reposition her every 2hrs, give her plenty of water and protein supplements, ask her doctor about applying an antibiotic ointment and dressing daily (ex. bacitracin, if dead skin is present you may need to use polysporin on the dead tissue) and give her pain medication if she needs it. Maybe try to contact your doctor instead of trusting people on the net It's great to hear that you are taking care of your mother. I know it's a lot of work, but you know that she has done a lot for you, too.God bless your heart. |
