If the PROPER equipment for preventing bedsores in an invalid patient was not available, would a water bed or? |

We're looking at moderately long term care here, weeks or months. Or would you rather I got the wrong information elsewhere, leading to more or worse bedsores...? an egg crate mattress will do the job as well. it is also recommended that you turn the patient every 2hrs. to prevent bedsores. I would believe they would be worst The best way to prevent bedsores is to change the position frequently. Like every hour if possibly. Then massage the part of the body that was supporting the weight in the last position. Yes, recirculating air mattresses are quite effective as a way to decrease the potential for the formation of bedsores, and they are available at stores that provide equipment such as hospital beds. However, just for the benefit to the patient that results from changing the configuration of their anatomical alignment, the value of changing the position, as well as flexing and bending the limbs at the joints is still the best. |
