Patients at risk should be provided with either an evaluated low pressure foam mattress/overlay or if high risk [bed ridden] large - celled alternating pressure mattress/overlay.

Simple measures to reposition often is vital to prevention of bedsores - using a grab rail or monkey pole or a bed cradle can help the patient to avoid friction action occurring while turning however this may not be possible for every case depending on ability and strength.

Your key to get these measures in motion the patients general practitioner who will instruct the district nurse etc.,., to get an assessment carried out urgently.

It is something that needs to be addressed sooner rather than later as time is of the essence. As you mentioned prevention is the best medicine.

Bed sores develop rapidly and painfully however these simple prevention methods will prove to be more cost effective than bedsores or even ligation.

u do know that she just copyed and pasted that she put no thourght into it Report It

my wife is a nurse
she said turn,wash person regularly
use vaseline and talcum powder on the parts the person lies most

Medical Intervention and regular bandage dressing is the cure when you have bedsores. the best prevention is moving around if in bed (or lift the skin and replace it in slightly different position). dont sit in the same position either.

They best to prevent a bedsore is turning every 2 hours to keep the pressure off the bony prominences.
The treatment depends on the severity.
Also the pressure area can be rubbed with a skin lotion to help with circulation in those area. The rubbing helps not the lotion.
As I do not know if you are talking about a bed ridden person or someone that can move about , it is hard to answer this question.

bed sores are from pressure if you lie on one side alot and are imobile these sores occur put a pillow either under your hip or between your legs which is where most sores start if sores have already occured see your doctor normally a nurse will dress them make sure if it is an elderly person or an imobile person you turn them often.

Granulex spray used to be a pretty good treatment for bedsores. The best way to prevent them is by massage to keep the circulation in those prone areas and changing positions at least every two hours. Depending on the circumstances you may want to change positions every one hour.
