Possible to get esophageal cancer from bulimia if possible to get from chronic acid reflux-barrett esophagus?

Yes... Bulimia erodes the esophageal epithelium by repeated exposure to stomach acids, greatly increasing the risk of cancer.

YES to all.

absolutely

doubtful, but it will rot the enamel covering on the teeth. then with no teeth you would have to drink food for a while. that may help reduce the bulimia nervosa,

It's possible to make your chances of esophageal cancer from being bulimic because you're bringing up so much acid when you're vomiting that it eats away at the lining of the esophogas, making it more vulnerable. Like when you chew tobacco, you're upping your chances of mouth and throat cancer.

Bulimia weakens the barrier that keeps the stomach acid down in the stomach, making acid reflux more prone to occur. Barrett's esophagus is a change in the lining of the esophagus as a result of acid reflux from the stomach. The chronic irritation from acid causes the cells lining the inside of the esophagus to change to be more like stomach lining to withstand the acid.

In theory it is possible, however the amount of erosion due to stomage acid is smaller if it is caused by bulimia than when caused by a reflux. This is understandable as a reflux results in acid erosion 24 hours a day, while with bulimia it is "only" a couple of times per day. Even if it is 20 times a day due to bulimia, this is still far les than with a reflux.

Yes to both, if its from the acid reflex ask your Dr about nexium ( the little purple pill ) The survival rate for esophageal cancer is slim to none. I lost my Husband to it 10 month after he was diagnosed.
