Esophagus cancer (adenocarcinoma)? |
Do you know anybody who has had this form of cancer and has survived? Any info would be useful; when were they diagnosed, the treatment they've had etc. Please do not confuse this with Barrett's esophagus. Thank you. almond1966 - I hope luck strikes here too. I know my Dad had cancer of the oesophagus about 15 years ago. He had radical surgery and is still alive and very well today. He has to eat small portions and sleep propped up due to acid reflux, but other than that he is doing well. I am very pleased to hear of your reply almond1966, unfortunately my father-in-law was not so lucky; because the symptoms for this awful cancer are often late in being seen, by the time any symptoms become apparent it's often progressed too far. I understand oesophageal cancer is difficult to treat and any succesful treatment is usually quite radical. A combination of major surgery and powerful chemotherapy will succesfully treat a SMALL proportion of these tumours. Some palliative treatments can be done with an endoscope. if all options are exhausted and there is nothing to lose so to speak, look into something called DCA (dichloroacetate) |
