I am planning bariatric by-pass surgery. Anyone regret doing it? Why?

I didnt have that type of surgery - I had the Lap-band on 4/19/06 and I was self-pay it cost about $10,700 for everything. I weighed 256 when I had surgery and yesterday I weighed in at 230. I have no regrets what so ever - but my surgery is not as invasive as yours will be. They didnt have to cut my stomach or any insides - I have only four very very small scares and I have only one medium scare.

This seems to be the surgery of the times. Meaning that insurance and medicare will pay for it. They have tightened the reins on so many unnecessary surgeries that doc's are doing this surgery to implement their incomes!

I have seen many complications from this surgery. I have also seen the loss of weight that is the reason for the surgery. But, I really think diet and excercise is the way to lose weight. Why risk serious complications by undergoing surgery?

Just my opinion. And yes people do die from complications from this surgery.

GAstric Bypass Surgery is very cheap in India.There is one company that is very famous in India that arranges all kinds of obesity surgery for foreigners in India.They are called the Forerunners Healthcare.I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and about their patient stories.I have also read that they arrange financing for american and canadian patients as obesity surgery is not covered by insurance.

They also have photos pasted of their International patients.You can checkout their website.The cost savings are incredible.As a doctor i personally believe that your gastric bypass surgery can be easily handled in India as the quality of healthcare available here is simply best in the world.The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.If you still havent got your surgery done,you are better off getting it done in India.
