I had gastric bypass surgery in April 2005. I started out at 268, now I鈥檓 180 and holding, after 1 year and 7 months. Yes, I had Cigna and I got the gastric by pass, then I started working for another company and we had United and they did pay for the surgery. Just check with your insurance company. I suggest that you get the lap band not the gastric bypass.The lap band you will only be out of work for about a week. I had the gastric bypass 5 yrs ago and I was out of work for 6 weeks and well I did lose the weight but I am fat again, with the lap band if you start to gain weight the doctor can tighten it.
