Bariartic Surgery?

I WOULD LOVE TO HEAR STORIES ABOUT BARIATRIC SURGERY. PREFER LAPSCOPE. I AM 40 YRS, FEMALE, 5'5 AND 247 POUNDS. HELP!!!!!!

Just had a Roux En Y performed on July 18 done laparascopically. 20 pounds as of yesterday. Easiest surgery I ever recovered from. Do some research on surgeons in your area. Tell people what you are doing. Chances are they know someone who has had it and can refer you to them. The procedure to get approved for the surgery is long and arduous. It will not happen overnight. Mine went very well and it was still 2.5 months from my first consult with the surgeon to the actual surgery date.
You want a surgeon who has done TONS of the procedures. Also check into the "lapband". It isn't nearly as invasive and you don't have the malabsorption issues. For instance, since I had RNY, I now have to take everything in liquid or chewable form. Including vitamins and tylenol.
You will also need to cut waaaaaaay back on your caffeine intake, never be able to drink a carbonated beverage again (includes beer, cokes, champagne), never drink out of a straw again.
You will also need to be able to make significant eating changes if you want to be successful.
The best advice I can give is to talk to everyone. Do your homework. Good luck!

Me too! I'm going to have it in December! It frightens me a little, but I've been told of the health benefits and I think it out weighs the fear. Be interesting to find out just what people who have had it thinks!

Gastric Bypass Surgery /gastrectomy/stomach stapling /lapband (all types of weight loss bariatric surgery) is very safe nowadays. It is very cheap in India. There is one company that is very famous in India that arranges obesity surgery for foreigners in India. They are called the Forerunners Healthcare.I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and about their patient stories.

I have also read that they arrange financing for american and canadian patients as obesity surgery is not covered by insurance. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. The cost savings are incredible. As a doctor i personally believe that your obesity surgery can be easily handled in India as the quality of healthcare available here is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.

My cousin got her revision surgery for gastric bypass in India through the forerunners healthcare .She is more than very happy with the results. She has lost 65lbs in 5 months. She just paid 25% of the amount she was quoted in USA and is all praise for this forerunners healthcare company.hope this helps

If you are considering this surgery, make it the last option. I looked into it at one time, but found out about a man that is still in a coma after the surgery. There are safer ways, I finally found a plan called Shapeworks, and lost 95 lbs in 8 months. It was safe, and very easy to follow. Here is where i got it from: www.loseweightnow.com/tfward
