What complications from bariatric surgery should I be concerned about?

What complications from bariatric surgery should I be concerned about?

The most common complication are pulmonary, bronchitis and pulmonia. I was operate 1 year ago and I retain liquid and later need 2 days more on the hospital for intravenous potassium, I stay 6 days on the hospital. But I had a friend that had bronchitis and she stay 1 month on the hospital.Other that the vomit usually pass on a couple of months. Also a quantity of person had hernia. Ask your doctor , i stronly recomend is the doctor had a support group go to a reunion and hear the history of other persons. Good Luck!

Death is a real concern here. I personally know people who have died months after having the surgery due to complications. This type of surgery is used much too often. People think of it as a quick easy fix, but they fail to realize the horrible side effects this surgery will cause. I have been overweight 90% of my life, so I know where you are coming from wanting to lose weight. My advice to anyone looking into this surgery is to get a nutritionist and personal trainer. If you follow their instructions, you will look better, feel great, and will have a long healthy life in front of you. This surgery is bad news, plain and simple.

The most common after surgery issue is malnutrition. You can no longer absorb your vitamins/minerals like the body should. You'll be on copious amounts of them and only liquid b/c you cant digest pills.
