Lots of Questions regarding bariatric surgery? Both RNY and Lapband I need support?

I got a referral from my endrocinologist to have this done. Reason I got the referral is cause I want it. I wanna know the pros and cons of both the RNY(gastric bypass) and the Lapband also the longterm effects each might have all this and that. Any postops out there who can help me major TIA to you . I am worried and scared but excited and looking foreward to a new life also. I also would like to know if you can still have the lapband with a hital hernia and if they would just fix the hernia first? and how medicaid covers these thanks I got lots of questions regarding this.Any post ops willing to chat with me in Messenger my id is metalheadmissy74 thanks for help.

I feel so alone going through this and terrified. But I look back at how badly i was treated cause of my obesity thanks to polycystic ovarian syndrome and how much weight I'd have left to loose I can't think of an alternative to this. I tried on my own and did well but seems to take forever. I did really well on weight watchers diet. and exercise program but with diabetes I think and hope this is a better route to deal with to add as a "TOOL" to help with the diet and exercise i am already doing. I ain't extremely big like a 600 lb person but for my height and weight I am I have a bmi of 50.1 . So I think I choose the right path I hope.

Hi
I am still pre-op but a friend of mine has a lapband. She lost 133 lbs and said she'd do it again in a heartbeat.
There are a lot of great stories and people to hook up with on the obesity help website. I also have a blog about my journey toward the surgery and all the things I've tried/am trying. Please take a look--I started because I felt so alone too. You can contact me through my blog, below, or through my Yahoo 360 page. Good luck. I hope to hear from you.

Hi,
Well, I have never had this surgery done and I am in no means a specialist but I have read articles and this is my opinion: the lapband surgery I have read is the better choice. Instead of rearranging your insides it is just putting a band around your stomach to make you feel that you are full faster. The down side to this, and any other weight loss surgery, is that the stomach is a muscle and will stretch back out if you do not follow a diet correctly.

With the other surgery there is a higher chance for infection and other complications. Your body is not able to absorb as many calories as you consume but you can still can gain weight back. There have been cases of this. I wish you all the luck and be proud of yourself that you have made it this far.
