Is it possible that a concussion could have any positive / curative effects on mental disorders?

I've suffered for years from severe general and social anxiety disorder. Various doctors I've seen through the years have concluded that this was the root cause of periods of severe depression, and my years long alcohol abuse. I've tried many medications, and I'm on Lexapro now, which helped somewhat, but still didn't knock out the anxiety completely, even at 20mg for 8 weeks and running.

Last Sunday, I fell down a couple of stairs in my apartment. I'd had quite a lot to drink, and don't even remember falling. When I came to, my face was covered in blood from my forehead, and I had a big bump there. I felt disoriented, confused, in pain, and I lacked balance. I had to walk with a cane for a few days to help with balance.

Now the weird part - all the signs of concussion are now gone, and even the bump only looks like a small cut now. But I feel BETTER - I feel free of the anxiousness that I normally felt, and also have had no alcohol cravings. It's been a week and no change. I felt...

... calmer and actually no desire at all for alcohol for about a week since, starting with the concussion. Could it have made this happen?

And another question - this seems like a really good thing, but should I be worried about this sudden large psychological change, even if it IS positive? And might it last, or go away?

I've never heard of concussions doing anything GOOD before, so maybe I'm looking a gift horse in the mouth here, but still...

Your doubt about why this happened, & how long would this last, can only be cleared by a good psycologist. But I would advice you to give up all the medications(they will not positively help you in 'long run'....strictly speaking).Doctors just experiment upon patients & earn money.
You don't have to worry about this psycological change, really.
And don't indulge into too many questions. As a friend, I will advice you to join meditation classes & practice it very frequently.Meditation & other simple exercises like jogging etc will certainly help you.
So resolve to have a new beginning from today. Get out of your house (even if you are not willing to), and observe the colours of this world, let these colours pour into your mind and colour your life.Remember; every second of your life, everything around you ,all the colours, they have been specially created for you.You are special! :-D

have a Dr check you, you could have prombles that you don,t even realize , usually a concussion ,makes anxiety worse
