Vaginal issue, possibly bacterial vaginosis?? need some help.?

This is very long in my head but I'll try and make it short. My girl friend and I have been together for a year. Between each other it has been our first time at everything.
The first few times I fingered her she started out dry and there was no smell at all. We started having sex occasionally and still would finger her. One day, she discharged for the first time unexpectedly and there was a little bit of an fishy odor.... that was about 5 months ago. Since then, she'll discharge a slighly yellow discharge with a fishy smell when I finger her and her vagina is always wet and always has a smell. I've been reading for weeks about women and related topics to try and get answers for her since she still lives with her parents and can't easily go about research or help. I'm thinking it is bacterial vaginosis... I want to know what others think. There's no itch but simptoms are, pain during sex if I go to deep, cramps after sex, smell, wetness. Any ideas or home/store remedies?

trying to solve this without going to gynacologist... would not be easily done by any means.. thanks

Well, it sounds as if you are trying to diganose something over the internet which is not a safe bet. It sounds as if she needs to see a doctor about the discharge. Some discharge by a woman is completely normal, but if there is a foul odor it should probably be checked out by a physician. I know you said this would be a problem and I don't know what the problem is...financial or worry of parents finding out. If finances are an issue, try to take her to a local health clinic...most if not all counties will have a free clinic or fees based on a sliding scale. If that is not an option, have her tell her mom she needs to go see a doctor for something ( make something up if she has to ) then she can tell her physician in private what the problem is...she doesn't even have to tell him she is sexually active, although honesty is the best policy. There is a patient/doctor confidentially and even if she needs medication for whatever the problem is...he/she will be better equipped to to discuss it with her parent's.
If you can...get her to see someone for the problem.

Good luck! And also...until you two figure out what this is, perhaps sexual activities should be brought to a halt.

It is called a douche, she need to get one, and clean herself after sex. She can get a infection from not being clean. Tell her to go to the pharmacy and get one. If this does not clear it up, she needs to go to the doctor right now.

I have the perfect solution you need to call wal greens pharmacy there is a medicine over the counter that you can use for this and yes this is your bacterial vaginosis. It's not a bad thing so don't think any less of your girlfriend okay. I get this same thing maybe once a month all it means is that some women produce more bacteria on their uterus than others. It's not transmittable either so you don't have to worry about that, but so call wal-greens and ask them for the over the counter pill or cream for this. Make sure she doesn't dushe either, a docter will tell you that you are not to do so unless your dr thinks that you should i can and will make it worse. that is a fact not a statement....

Bacterial vaginosis (or a common yeast infection) is a possibility. Assuming your sexual encounters truly are firsts for both of you, that would rule out other STDs, but the discharge you are describing also sounds very much like chlamydia or even gonorrhea or syphilis--as does the symptom of pain during intercourse. Regardless, while some discharge and even slight musky odor is normal, heavy, green or yellow, and foul-smelling discharge is not. The only way to know for sure to for her to see a doctor. I know you said this might be difficult under the circumstances, but I'm sure you have a Planned Parethood or another clinic in your area she could get to. It's important that she does. Untreated STDs can become a very serious systemic infection called pelvic inflammatory disease. I hope this helps and good luck.

i gather both of you are rather young...
going to a doctor would be the best thing as any untreated infections could cause future problems for her.
you should know that no woman is ever completely dry,we all have a "smell"(although it shouldn't be strong)and we do occasionally get discharge for no particular reason.
she should avoid douches, tight jeans/trousers,soap etc.in that area and she should wear cotton panties..this might help a little.
also,PLEASE make sure you wash your hands before all this "fingering"!!
but i would still suggest seeing a doctor :)
