Will my crotch smell fishy until i get it checked? or do those symptoms eventually go away?

My 'down town' has had a constant foul or fishy smell and discharge since before christmas of 2006. What I guessed it was, was baterial vaginosis because it has those symptoms, fishy or foul smell and discharge. Is bacterial vaginosis know to continue until it is treated or will it go away eventually after youve had it a while even without treatment?

Get to your doctor and get that taken care of....that's not something that should just be left to be treated until you get around to it...and if it hasn't cleared up by now on its own, I doubt it's going to.

Unless you have no health insurance or money to pay a doc, why would any woman go months with a fishy smelling vagina and discharge? *puzzled look*

go to the gyno and get something to put that thing out! Why would you want to smell for that long?

Please go to the gynecologist. Don't try to diagnose yourself.

See a doctor asap bacterial infections require antibiotics or they can become life threatening-even infections down there.

Sometimes a very strong fishy odor or discharge can indicate more than just bacterial vaginosis or yeast infection. This can also be indicative of trich. so i would have it checked out by a health care provider.

Most likely its garderella - or trich. in either case you will need to see a doctor for a script.
They do not go away on thier own. they are self perpetuating because once they alter the ph of the vagina it makes it difficult for the good bacteria (that usually kill them) to live there.
Get a script. You'll feel better in a number of ways for doing so.

it won't go away til you have treatment. my aunt (who is 3 years older than me) had that fishy smell and it doesn't go away even as long as 6 months. she treat herself with vaginal gels to be used after her menstruation but still the smell is there. turn out to be bacterial infection. when our (we have the same gyne) gave her antibiotics it cleared up.

*Untreated bacterial vaginitis can result in pelvic inflammatory disease and lead to future infertility. (just saw this info)
