Okay-this is going to sound very gross-but it will work. Buy some plain unflavored yogurt. Every day, use a tablespoon of it in the "affected" area. It will help.

Don't have sex.

Bacterial Vaginosis is caused by your body making too much natural yeast. The antibiotics didn't work for me either. I got a tube of cream from the GUM with an applicator so I could put it right inside. Don't know what the cream was. You are better off going to the GUM as it is all they deal with every day & every patient, also results are immediate and you get the medication from the straight away ,free. Good luck.

Put natural yogurt on to a tampon it will kill the bacteria

bacterial vaginosis is often caused by an imbalance of the vaginas ph levels. this can be caused by over washing of the genital area with soaps and it can also have a dietary cause. often sugary foods are to blame for a number of ailments. maybe if you eat alot of sweet foods just cutting down on these and eating more healthy foods this may alleviate the problem. also have you thought that the type of underwear you wear could have an effect? it has been noted that thongs allow bacteria to be passed from the backside to the vagina through the movement of the fabric when they are worn. if this could possibly be a cause try wearing cotton (therefore breathable) briefs for a few days to see if this helps.
if none of this helps then you will have to see the doctor again to see if they can offer any other suggestions.
hope this helps though.
