*Home>>>Bacterial Vaginosis

I went to the dr. office 2 months ago b/c of irregular menses (period)....?

Took urine preg. test
came back neg.
They had the wrong number to contatct me at (idk why)
So they have been trying to reach me for 2 months to let me know I have a UTI
Went To Planned Parenthood yesterday (before finding out about UTI) & they are going to give me Flagyl for a bacterial vaginosis

Could this affect fertility?

Is this why I haven't got pregnant for the past 5 months?

If it is, does that mean I will never have children?

Anything you know about infertility & B.V please let me know

Thanks so much

I got a pap done
I don't have any STDs
I was a virgin until 17 ( had sex for the first time almost 8 months ago)
& I have only been with one person (whom I am still with)

this should answer all questions you may have
good luck

It might affect it while you have the infection and while you are on the drug, but after all that is over, you should have no problems getting pregnant. Don't worry! :)

UTI can reduce your chances of getting pregnant while the infection is present. However, once the bacteria has been removed, you should be okay unless there are other issues. I suggest taking a probiotic now and after the Flagyl. This will restore your good bacteria in your body and help maintain good vaginal PH. An infection can increase your vaginal PH to be more acidic which will make it more difficult for sperm to survive. Once that returns to normal, you shouldn't have any more problems.

If you hare trying to get pregnant, this shouldn't affect it.

A UTI is just an infection in your urethra, so it has nothing to do with your ovaries and uterus, which are the important body parts regarding pregnancy. Bacterial vaginosis can have many causes. STDs, hormone imbalance, and improper cleaning after bowel movements are the top three. It won't affect pregnancy, but it could be a sign of a hormone imbalance.

A hormone imbalance can cause irregular ovulation and irregular periods. I'll link you to information below. You'll want to talk to an OB-GYN. They can tell you when it is worrisome that you aren't pregnant yet. I think the amount of time considered within "normal" is a year.

To know when you are ovulating, pay attention to your period. Twelve days or so after your period, you'll notice you have more discharge than usual, and it will seem like mucus (it is, actually). That is a sign you are ovulating. Try to relax about it, too, and have fun. A stressed-out woman won't have normal ovulation, either. The stress hormones tell your body NOT to get pregnant because there might be a famine, war, or other situation that isn't "right" for raising a baby.

Some women try for years to get pregnant. When they give up and adopt a child, it is not unusual for the woman to get pregnant. Go figure. So, try to relax about it. You'll get pregnant when your body is ready. Just have intercourse when you want to and make sure he's riding bareback. Have fun!

EDIT: sorry, forgot to run spell check!
