To the doctors, I need help?

For some odd reason I keep experiening bacterial vaginosis. And am totally clean, and so is my fiance. And they told the different ways of how it can happen and that most women get repeated symptoms. I was on an antibiotic for a strep throat not too long ago, and I went to the college doc to get a follow up and she gave me a urine test and a pelvic exam, and say that my urine was fine and that there was no more bacteria and there, but she did find yeast, which came from the anti. Anyway, the single pill that she perscribed for me just wasn't working, and I kept having the urge 2 urinate. So I went to the ER 5 days later and they did the same thing, and said that iw as bacteria. How in the hell is that possible!? I am so frustrated. I don't know if I was misdiagnosed or what. How can it go from yeast to bacteria? Anyway, since the metro pills made me sick, and kind of kept me from school, I'm on the metronidozole gel. Only globs of it come out an hour after I take it, still seeing white

stuff inside there. But there r times it come out an our afterwards, and still looks fresh after I just inserted in. Is that normal? I am so sick of this. I'm not having intercourse, it's messing with my sex life. and even if I wanted to if the infection did clear up, I couldn't because my fiance is stationed in Fort Knox. He's in army training. This is ridiculous. Is this gel thing normal or should I just wait it out. THis is my 3rd day of taking it

Wow! OK. Sounds like your body is a little confused. I think you are experiencing a bit of catch 22. Meaning, the antibiotics took care of the bacteria, but then allowed the yeast to grow. The anti-fungal is letting the bacteria regrow.

I recommend sugar-free yogurt daily or probiotics (good bacteria) pills. I would drastically limit my carb intake since yeast feeds on carbs in your blood stream. By doing these things, it should break the cycle.

Also, cotton undies will help that area breath better than nylon/spandex undies. If you wear thongs, you might want to stop for a while.

It looks like Alex did a little copy and paste. Poser!! Report It

Eat yogurt, it has good enzymes that will help you. Plus go airborne if you know what I mean, bacteria grow in moist places. Try and keep it dry. Hope this helps.

Eat a lot of yogurt. It helps with the infection. It happened to me when I was on a certain antibiotic. If you eat a lot of yogurt it should help cure it faster.

I am not a dr., but can tell you to take some acidophilus. Preferably, go to a natural food store or homeopathic store. Most acidophilus bacterias do well in refrigerated climates. The bacteria will help from everything from a common cold to a yeast infection. Natural bacterias actually combat invasive bacterias in your body.

You will need to take 2-3 of natural acidophilus for a few days. It is not harmful for you to take it daily. Good Luck..

Basically your body flora (natural yeast and bacteria) are messed up and taking turns overgrowing and causing problems. It may take a while to get back to normal. The Antibiotics killed the bacteria and allowed the yeast to overgrow, the yeast pill killed the yeast and allowed the bacteria to overgrow. Yogurt can help, but mostly your body needs time to balance back out.

always wear cotten breathing underwear, and yogurt is great to eat, has very healthy bacteria, have showers and no baths, no perfurmes or smelly products are to be used on that area. Stop eating yeast filled foods for a while, breads especially. Try eating more fruits and veggies. I know it sounds weird, but really dry that area after your shower, even using a hair dryer on low setting to dry out completly. I hope this helps you out. Take care,

Are you being careful not to cross contaminate when wiping? Front to back always. (trying to be polite and delicate, I hope you know what I mean). Also, is fiance being treated? can he be reinfecting you? if he gets it from you and is not treated can he give it back to you after you are well?

You are right, the gel is gross and very inconvenient to use, but they expect the loss of stuff and adjust their dosing directions accordingly.

if things are not well soon, consider going to a different doctor.
