Bacterial infection or what?

I was diagnosed with trichomoniasis last year, got treatment and it was ok. Now 3 months ago my pap smear came back abnormal BUT my Hpv test were negative...I did a 2nd pap and came back abnormal too. Now last week I went to the Gyno and he diagnosed a vaginal bacterial infection so he put me on Metrogel. Now I will wait for a 3rd thin prep pap to see what I have...Any advice?

having BV is not an STD... its just simply an over growth of bacteria. practice good hygiene, and wipe from front to back after going to the bathroom the metrogel should take care of it.

you should find out HOW your app came back. if it was ASCUS that is nothing to worry about. it could have been that you had sex w/in 48 hrs of getting the pap..a vaginal infection (ie the trich or BV)..or getting off your period and using tampons.

if it was LGISL that means that there may be something wrong ( ie HPV) and if left untreated it can cause cancer (when left untreated X years and years)

and if it was HGISL then they should do more extensive testing w/in the next couple of weeks.

as for waiting for 3 mths..that is standard. a pap is just where they take that small qtip like swab and "scrape cells off your cervix" you have to wait that long b/c it takes that long for them to grow back.
