Side effect from Clindamycin?

I took clindamycin for Bacterial Vaginosis - and now I have a yeast infection. Given the reason for each of these conditions, I'm wondering how to finally restore the balance once and for all?

Yes, your antibiotic cause a yeast infection. The 2 things you need to take is acidophilus - 2 tabs 3 times a day to restore the friendly flora in your intestines destroyed by the antibiotic and restores regular vaginal bacterial balance. Take on an empty stomach. The other one is cranberry pills 2 tabs 3 times a day with lots of water to acidify the urine and prevent bacteria from adhering to the bladder. Once you have this under control keep taking the acidophilus and the cranberry pills but cut it down to once every morning. You can purchase both of these at Wal-mart, Rite Aid, and any store that sells supplements. Good Luck!

Yeast infections are not generally a side effect from using Clindamycin.
Most women complain of itchiness, burning or irregular discharge mainly when using it to treat infections in the vaginal area.

To rectify the balance, try using a natural flora supplement such as Inner Health Plus, or another such product. By taking this, the bodys normal and healthy flora will be promoted, killing off the bad bacteria within the body causing the increased prevalence of thrush you have described.

If you find this doesn't work, best to see a gyno as they may be able to determine a hidden problem!

any antibiotic can disrupt the normal balance of bacteria in your vagina (as it can also in your intestines). the clindamycin wiped out the bacteria which causes BV, but also some other "good" bacteria, allowing the yeast (candida albicans) to multiply.

it's annoying, but normal. while you are on the clinda, use monistat as well.

yeast infection is very very common after clinda or any type of antibiotic for that matter. use over the counter monistat for the yeast.
