Really bad pain in back of head?

Hello my father is really ill he has this strong pain in the back of his head and down his neck abit but the pain is coming from the back of head, he is in so much pain the pain is in the back of his eyes too. We have had to call out the doctor and he just said see how you go and if it gets worst go to hospital. My father always works even if unwell but he cant get out of bed. And because its so painfull he is really worried, he went back to the doctors today and they sent him for a x-ray and results will take ten days! he is worried sick as he is in so much pain. He is also feeling sick but i think thats down to being in pain. Any ideas what this could be, he has had this since saturday and the doctor gave him strong painkillers but they are not even touching the pain.

well thank you for all your answers, we will hopefully find out soon as my father had to be rushed to hospital this morning. After him getting alot worst.

Get your dad to the Accident & Emergency dept at your local hospital - they will have to deal with it - don't delay any longer in case it is something serious.

Ring for an ambulance, that really doesn't sound right.

Go to the accident and emergency department at your local hospital. Why should he suffer and wait 10 days? Even if it was for the doctor to give him a stronger pain killer or something to constrict the blood flow in his head.Hope hes okay.

sounds serious. He may have some tension headache. he needs to see a neurologist.

has anyone taken his blood pressure, i
had bad pain there too, pain killers wouldnt touch it, turned out i had high blood pressure and the pain was because the arteries are at their narrowist there and that caused the pain,

he needs a secnd opinion and quick. can you get him to an a&e.

the worrying will not help. it sounds similar to migraine - head pain can also be brought on by tension. All he can do now is rest take the painkiller and wait for the results
good luck
