Could the injury to my back be causing bladder troubles?

I injured my back and was told I probably have a bulged disc. Since the injury I have had problems with my bladder that are slowly getting worse. It started as trouble starting my stream. Now I go a ton of times during the day, but only tiny amounts and always feel like I have to go but can't. Since yesterday I have started dribbling a bit. Usually a couple minutes after I finish. I will leave the bathroom start doing whatever and a tiny bit of urine flows out. Could this be from my back injury or something else? Any ideas on what I should do? It's becoming quite bothersome and a bit scary. I am asking this in the pain section because it does hurt and I am sure a lot of people that are in pain have suffered from a back injury. Thanks for any ideas!

YES!!!!
Whoever told you that you "probably" have a bulging disc is "probably" correct. You dont state if you went to your GP or someone else or how you injured youself, but you are going to need an MRI and you are going to need to see a neurologist/ neurosurgeon.
The reason you feel like this is because the nerves in your lower back not only give you sensation in your back, but the control your internal organs in that area- your bowels & bladder-- so if you injured a disc, the nerves in the area are being irritated or pinched so to speak & the bladder may not be getting the messages from the brain that it needs to function properly.

PLEASE go call your doctor- and tell them you have lost bladder function due to your disc problem- they will get you in ASAP.

It is still possible that you have a kidney or bladder problem or a prostate problem, depending on your age, but it's best to have them do a MRI & that can tell a lot anyway.

Please dont let it get worse so you dont have any permanent damage.

yes,go and see your doctor

I think you should go see your gp because I dont think the two are connected unless your kidney's were injured as a result of your back injury.

This shouldn't be taken lightly, it may well be a serious consequence of back trauma but I would get it checked. Incontinence in men are quite common, however, it maybe an infection in your water works, and this will cause more back discomfort. A course of antibiotics should do the trick.

Yes it can be and usually it is the first thing the neurosugeon asks when he looks at your back. You need to get straight to the docs and get a referral to the surgeon to have that checked out.

This could also be a bladder infection so they will test your urine first.

I have two buldging disc in my neck.

The injury to your back is causing pressure on your kidneys. The muscles are pulled tight. There is a posibility you will get diarrhea to. Use moist heat to your back. (hot water to a towel and heat a towel in the dryer and put it over the wet. Leave it on for a 1/2 hour .) Do this for a 1/2 hour every 2 hours. Drink plenty of cranberry juice and water. no lifting, twisting,or sitting in ine position for to long. This should at least help untill the swelling goes down.

Go to the doctor now!! I'm a physio and anyone with low back pain we ask about any problems with their bladder. have you noticed any decreased sensation around the area on which you sit? a bulging disc can compress nerves as the leave the spine. any bladder symptoms should be taken very seriously and get it checked out. Not meaning to scare you it could just be a urinary tract infection but better safe than sorry!

may be you could have a weak bladder. in these times anything is possible. best of luck.
