Back Pain Forever???

I am 22 years old. I worked as a CNA taking care of quadreplegics in their home. I would have to transfer a certain patient about 12 times a day (wheelchair to bed, to toilet, to passengers seat...) eventually I sustained a back injury. This injury made my lower back sore from that point on. I injured it again on a manual wheelchair ramp which pulled me down with it to the ground. I sought medical attention for both injuries and did physical therapy after the 2nd injury...but my back is still in so much pain! The PT that I worked with gave me exercises to do to help strengthen my back, but I can barely do them because they cause so much pain. I now work as a maid and my job is very physical. I rely on Aleve everyday to live with the pain, and what used to be pain that came and went, is now constant. I am only 22 years old! My finace calls me "grandma" because it's hard for me to stand from a sitting position and go up and down stairs too quickly. Will I be like this forever? Help!

I'm so sorry to hear about this, I injured my back from lifting heavy boxes, you need a good massage therapist, i'm 27 and people are calling me old your fiance is an idiot for calling you grandma, if he actually cares he should help you and give you massages. its been 4 months for me and i've improved a lot but not fully healed you may have pulled a muscle, you should continue with PT and do stretches eventually start strengthening your back it will take some time but good luck i know how you feel and be careful in the future

it depense it you want a DR. to do surgery on your back.

I used to have back pain everytime i would bend and lift something...the best way to avoid backpain is to make backword abs...go to the gym ,the have this stand that lets you do back set ups. or u can just do it on the side of the bed with the help of ur boyfriend ;). he holds your legs, you are facing the ground, ur pelvis is on the corner of the bed...then u drop until u get to 90 degrees with your legs, and u go back up..it work wonders

The best thing is to see a doctor;)

If it's okay with your doctor and this has lead to inflammatory arthritis, I would like to share a secret I learned through my interest in vitamins and herbology- Valerian and Skullcap together in an equal combination- Scull cap rebuilds bone and Valerian rebuilds nerve tissue. It may be hard to find this because bodybuilders were abusing this for muscle gain in the past but it sure works as a terrific remedy. If this does not work, you may need to take a high dose of Ibuprofen or even steroids like Cortisone if necessary.

You need Deep tissue massage. Find a real good therapist who knows what they are doing. Include mid and upper back work to balance out the whole body. Get some good orthotics for your feet and arches. Ride a bicycle to strengthen your low back and legs. Ease off on the aleve and find natural pain relief supplements.
Avoid surgery!

I had back pains for quite some time and then I was made aware that your back is primarily held up by your stomach muscles. It may help if you can lay on your back and do small stomach crunches, just barely rasing your shoulders and crunching your stomach muscles. Once you have a strong stomach your back muscles will be able to relax a little more. If your pain is of a chronic type do to torn muscles you can try a muscle relaxant like watson soma or a pain killer like Tramadol. Fortunatly you can now get these medications without having to visit the doctor first. The store I use is Medication.md. Good luck with your situation.
