Erectile dysfunction after back injury?

i have had a back injury since 1999. i am not sure if i was having erectile dysfunction issues before this or not. i have been treated for low testosterone, but the treatments have not helped with the erectile dysfunction. i get erections usually in the morning and can usually get one if i am being physically touched/manipulated. but i can't seem to get one by thinking about sex or looking at porn or anything. i can get turned on, etc. but i don't get an erection until there is physical contact. could this be related to my lower back injury? if so, is there anything i can do? is there a "cure"? if i stick with my exercises, will it improve? i am 26 and have been dealing with this since i was 18 years old and i really can't take it anymore. thanks for any help.

i would really like to emphasize how i am unable to "think" myself into an erection. i do get nocturnal erections... i am able to get an erection, but it requires physical manipulation. sexual thoughts, porn, etc. do not work...

I had a brain injury in '98. Damage in the CNS (Central Nervous System - brain and spinal cord) can mess you up because it's where the nerves transmit information, and if your highway's broken down, the cars aren't going to get from point A to point B. I don't know what happened to your lumbar spine, but I would imagine the pudendal nerve in the lumbar plexus of the spinal cord (at the sacrum or tailbone) could be the area where damage may have occured. However, erection is a physiological reaction of both psychological and physiological stimuli. Do you get erections during the night?

My doctor told me to do this when I asked him about it - do this only with your doctor's instruction. He told me to put a piece of perforated tape around the penis before going to sleep. During the night, a healthy man will have nocturnal erections during rapid eye movement sleep. If you are healthy, that will cause the perforations to tear. In that case, you know that erectile dysfunction is not a physical problem, but psychological, and can move to another solution. Some options include medications in your heart is healthy, and a bunch of other things that I won't go into. You'll find out.

That's getting into deeper stuff than I'll go into here. I think that if this has happened to you since the back injury, and it's an incident of the back injury, you need to speak about this with your doctor, if you haven't already. This is something that is important for your well-being, even if it isn't life-threatening. Warning - insurance will only cover things that are life-threatening.

i am sure you can get proper answer from this link. en.wikipedia.org
