What kind of injuries occur in a car accident;project?

We have to make up a story for english and the teacher chose me to do one on a car accident and the couple was severly injured..but what kind of injuries? I've never been in a car accident.
Thanks so much in advance

Sorry, what I meant was, what kind of injuries are bad/severe?

Our 10yr old son & i were in an accident nearly a year ago. We were at a dead stop & rear-ended by someone doing 55mph. Our son ended up with a concussion & a cardiac contusion. I have 3 ruptured discs in my neck (C4-C7) The driver of the car that hit us was not injured.

possible injuries include absolutley anything you can think of. ANy bone could be broken. Internal injuries could occur. Lacerated spleans, collapsed lungs (caused by broken ribs), head trauma, broken necks, amputations, wow the possibilities are endless.

Well; broken bones.
Almost any bone can break.
Internal injuries & trauma to the head are also quite serious.
A loss of a limb is another serious injury.
I broke my back in 3 places in an auto accident.
Spinal injuries are very serious injuries, too.
I've broken my back, my chest, & my knee from accidents. My wife put her head through the windshield.

I know this boy that got hurt so bad in a car accident he was in a coma for a while and now hes at the kingergarten level. You could also bleed to death (I know somone who bled to death in an accident).

Spinal injury,
Loss of limbs,
Full organ failure,
Brain damage,
3rd degree burns,
Foriegn object piercing torso,
Blood loss,
Heart attack/ Stroke,
Internal bleeding,
Fractured/Broken skull,
the list is endless...

Injuries depend on the speed of the vehicle(s). On a slow moving crash usually you will have minor injuries. especially if structure damage is minimal. Injuries mostly will consist of sore muscles and whiplash injuries to the neck. On major accidents with major structure damage to the vehicles most injuries will be of the crushing type, along with the possibility of lacerations of organs. And if seat belts aren't worn severe injuries can result in death. Hope this helps!!

I was just in a roll-over, and I had a distal radial fracture (broken just below the bend of the wrist on the thumb side). At the orthapedic surgeon's, they were calling it an airbag fracture because it's typically from holding the steering wheel while the airbag goes off. Luckily that was all that happened, but broken bones, punctured lungs, impalements, ejections, etc. You can really use just about anything and it's more than likely happened in an car accident of one type or another. Figure out how the cars going to wreck and then research it - rollover, mechanical failure, drunk driving, etc. and see what the most common injuries are... Good luck!

Start with the knees and feet. Most people bang these first and there's not a lot to hold them down. Then just remember the crash test dummies and the speed.

My parents and brother were in a car accident years ago and my brother had a broken hip and shoulder. My mom broke her foot my dad had seatbelt bruises. Severely i think would be a head injury, maybe internal bleeding. Car accidents could cause any type of injury you name it from cuts to a coma from head injury. Goodluck with your project hope this helps a little.

How 'bout I just tell you about my car accident... Use it for your paper if you'd like. I'll keep it brief but it happend over 10 years ago and I still suffer from the injuries.

It was 1 month after my 22 nd B-day and I had my new car (Nissan Sentra hatch back) I had just droped off my friend and her 18 month old son at her parent's house and was on my way down town to pick up my other girl friend to go out on Friday night.
I was stoped at an intersection at a stop sign, waiting to turn left. One block behind me was an elementary school and one bock ahead was a hospital, therefore it was a 30 km/hr zone. Once the way was clear I pulled out and from around the bend came a bright light. What seemed like immideatly afterwards I realized that a woman was talking to me asking if there was anything she could get me like a blanket or call someone for me to let me know what had happened.
A few minutes later, the fire Dept. came followed by an ambulance crew. They quickly told me to lay still and place a neck brace on me. Finally I realized that I had had an accident and was conviced that my friend's son was still in the car! When they told me he wasn't I freaked and claimed that he must've been thrown from the car. After a quick search they assured me that there was no such child.
I had been hit hard in the driver's seat by a man, who claimed had not been drinking (later proved to be lying). My driver's side door had pinned my left leg to the seat and amazingly my right leg had found it's way over the gear shift and into the passenger's side (saving my left leg from amputation, so they speculated). Using the jaws of life they carefully cut the roof of my car off turning my little Nissan into a convertable! They placed a back board behind me and lifted me up and out safely.

The resulting injuries I incured from this accident were 2 crushed vertibrae in my lower back, a broken pelvis a 30 cm long bruise on my left leg allong with 3 cuts requirering some stitches.

If you're looking for more details on my expirience "in the hospital" regarding treatments and what happend afterwards - email me a cpl411@hotmail.com. Hell I could write your whole paper for you! If this is enough info for you (probably already to much LOL!) then good luck with your paper!

head injuries
shock
collapsed lung/ puntured
intearal bleeding

um maybe if you visted your local fire dept and explained your english project to some of the firefighters or EMTs they could help you better but remember to say thank you and be nice and quick since they are very busy

you could also get trapped or thrown from the car. so many things could happen.

hope this helps.
