I've had severe brain surgery and migraines...now I think I might be experiencing seizures...am I? I need help

I have had migraines since I was about 7 years old. I am 20 now. I was born with a cyst in my left temporal lobe. About 2 years ago I had a subdural hematoma from a soccer injury. In the past year I THINK that I may be suffering from seizures. Frankly, they are not full body sensations, but tend to always remain constrained to my brain. It feels like my brain is squeezing like a fist for about 30 seconds to one minute. I tend to lose a sense of balance afterwards, and have a somewhat heightened sense of perception. I'm not sure if this is considered a seizure, or what it is. I have scheduled an appointment with a clinical-psychologist, but I am very concerned now. What is really going on?

Hmmmmm.

Why don't you ask a neurosurgeon!

You don't ask people on yahoo answers. You ask your doctor duh. You had good intentions though a star for you

I believe I would be getting a second and third opinion from specialists in the field.

It might be a good idea to get a doctors opinion. There are MANY types of seizures -- children can have them and a parent may not even know -- they'll just daze off for a short amount of time (and who knows, they may be feeling the same as you but unable to verbalize it well) --- it's possible -- but I'd rather have an M.D. check that out......

You must see a doctor ASAP!

This place is largely populated by bored high schoolers. Truck on down to your doctor ASAP. Don't drive in the meantime.

The brain is a complex thing. Scientists still don't even understand it. People probably never will. But, professinal brain doctors will probably give you a pretty good idea about what is going on. Before another sugery, I would get a second opinoion on it if it is not an emergency. But until you appointment, I would keep someone by your side at all times. Don't drive, and I wouldn;t do any physical activity in the meantime!

Sorry to hear about your problum, but hopefully everything will turn out okay!! Good luck!

Seizures come in many different forms. Ask yourself some of these questions (and prepare answers for your doctor):

Are you conscious when an episode occurs?
Are you aware of what's going on around you?
How do you feel during?
Are there jerking sensations?
How often do they occur?
How do you feel the next day?
Does it prohibit you from doing things?

The list can go on forever. From what i've read of your post, it doesn't seem typical, but then i could be wrong. But i would suggest you read up on it on the net. And don't worry, they'll find out what it is and they'll fix it.

A neurologist is the type of doctor that you need to see. What you describe may or may not be seizure related. Whatever it is, you really should get it checked out by a brain MD (neurologist). Keep the appt with the psychologist if you think it might be psychological or if you want to talk to someone about what you are going thru or have experienced. It sounds like a lot. That said, the neurologist is the type of MD you should see. In fact, checking back in with the ones that looked after you before would be a wise move. They know your history.

You need to speak with your doctor about these issues, hon.

And i hope you will.

YOU NEED TO SEE A NEUROLOGIST FIRST. Then a neurosurgeon second. You have had brain surgery in the recent past, go now. Could be vasospasms, new cyst growth, well just about anything. doesn't really sound like seizures.

Skip psychologist for now.
