I have an injured shoulder, what doctor should i go to? |
this injury is not related to my bone, its in the muscle or nerve area It depends what you did to injure it. If you say it's in the nerve area, it could actually be your neck. I had herniated discs in my neck which one of them ruptured and collapsed, trapping a major nerve in my arm. I don't EVER want to feel pain like that again. Get a referral from your primary. It will be either an orthopedic surgeon or a neurologist. I would start with the ortho. An orthopedic Dr., but you may need a referal from your General Practitioner. see an orthopedic doc that specialises in shoulder, this is what I did when I hurt my rottor cuff. I didn't have a bone/joint injury it was soft tissue. A neuromuscular doc might also be able to help. If you are unsure you should see your primary doc first. He/she can do an exam and order initial tests if necessary |
