How much would you think I would get for a workman's comp settlement?

I injured my shoulder in Dec. 06. I have been out of work for 8 months, but I'm on TTD. I have to have shoulder surgery, and I will be put on Permanent Partial Disability. I'm supposed to get medical care for the rest of my life for my shoulder, and a settlement that is supposed to last me the rest of my life.
I was told that it would be about $30,000.

My question is, doesn't that seem a little small for the rest of my life? Do you know what maybe the settlement would be?

I'm sorry if this seems like a stupid question, I just want to make sure that I'm taken care of, cause this injury has taken a lot of my freedom.

I'm sorry, I forgot to add that I do have a lawyer.

The key word here to look at is PARTIAL in the eyes of Work Mens comp.you have a permanent disability, but being its partial their saying you willbe able to still work, maybe not at what you were doing but something that wont require a lot of use of your shoulder thus you get a partial ,as opposed to being fully disabled.NOt sure exactly how they determine their findings. But if Im not wrong they are required to help you find training in a new job classification, and pay for that training.

you really need a disability attorney. you do not knw until after the surgery if you will make a full recovery / or require future treatments. i would get a lawyer that gets a percent of waht he wins / not be paying him by the hour. i'd at least listen to a couple of their opinions / advise / consults are usually free and then make a decision. you might be better of on your own. but most people are usually better off getting help from atty. good luck to you.
