I have two jobs. Can i work one and be off from the other with a doctors sick note?

I had a neck injury and was unable to work at the nursery job i do so i recieved a doctors sick note for a week. but i was answering the phones at my other job am i allowed to do one job but not the other if i have a doctors sick note? or am i not allowed to work at all?

A medical certificate is an all or nothing phenomena in a case like this. There are exceptions in longer term disability, when some work may be permitted.

Depends on what your doctor says, you doctor might say you are unable to work at a gardening center because of any lifting, and bending over that might be required, while an office job is not as strenuous. You would have to talk to your doctor to figure out what your limitations are.

Don't tell job one about job two, or explain you can answer a phone but not physical work.

Just use your doctor's sick note to get a break from both of your jobs.

If you are claiming benefits from the DWP you should ask them because usually if you claim Incapacity Benefit (or whatever it is called now) you sign a declaration that you have done no paid work and are therefore entitled to the benefit.

If you receive sick pay from one employer you are also receiving that money on the grounds that you can do no work so I think receiving any benefit or sick pay while working for someone else is a bit dodgy.

Answering the phones all day will likely aggravate your neck symptoms unless you have a proper ergonomically designed workstation and headsets.

The simple answer is: no you can't, it is fraud.

The reason being, that you are not be paying as much tax as you should be if all your income were taken into account. We all now how Mr Taxman likes his share of our hard earned money.
