How do you know if you should get help?

How do you know if you need therapy of some sort?
regaurding a teenager dealing with self injury and family issues along with normal teenage stuff. [ex: school, friends, etc.]
how do you know when to "get help"

Whenever you feel that talking to someone would help. Anyone could benefit from that, you don't need to be mentally ill. If you're thinking along the lines that you may need help, then you probably do. Self-injury is never a good sign.

In my opinion as soon as self injury starts.

actually I should say way before self injury even starts.

if you feel that you would like to talk to somebody about how you are feeling then you know you should get help making that first step to go and get help is always difficult but you should ask for help if you need it chances are if you are self injuring you have issues you need to discuss so be brave and ask for help

any time self injuring comes up it is time for professiona help- can you go to the guidance counselor? How about your parents?

If you are feeling really sad, depressed and have family issues as well as maybe a slight mental disorder (wanting to hurt yourself) go and TALK to your regular DR and ask them what therpapist would be good for you to see. I suggest you do that soon. I would tell you to talk to your parents but if it is that bad of family issues then call your DR yourself- or go to school guidance counselor- they can always help, too.
I wish the best for you!!! Be Happy :)

Generally self-injury would be the red flag. Not because it necessarily will lead to suicide or such, but because its a last-choice coping device.

Forums and blogging are a good step towards freedom, since teenage friends are just as confused as you. But if it feels out of your control, go for help. (Writing helps, but try to keep it private)

If you're harming yourself, get help.
If you're thinking of suicide, get help.
If you feel like you can't cope, get help.
If you feel like you need someone to talk to, get help.

getting help straight way before you do anything to yourself

If she/he is already doing self injury, then the time to get some help is now.
