It can possibly be caused by head trauma or injury.

However, I don't think schizophrenia is caused by an injury to the brain. Those suffering from schizophrenia cannot cope with reality. They hear voices in their head, they 'see things,' they live in a world of fantasy and delusion. Serious forms of schizophrenia even manifest 'split personalities.' It is a mental, emotional, psychological and spiritual problem.

If you mean schizophrenia, then it is the worst mental illness one can have. As explained so well by the others below, you hear things that are not there. You are not rational and are delusional. You thoughts are often not real, you cannot make important competent decisions and many are often very violent.Many of their symptoms are the same as depression but it is so much worse. It literally will ruin your life. I disagree with with the lady who claimed it was spiritual. That is not true. If spiritual is involved in the way the talk or behave, it has to do the their believes prior to becoming ill or influence by others.

But injuries to the head normally cause more physical symptoms like severe headaches an other problems. It could easily cause severe depression but not schizophrenia. I just talked to a psychiatrist this week about this and it is the worst type of mental illness anyone could have. And the worst part is that most medications for this illness does not normally help a patient with schizophrenia.

If you know someone you think may be, please get them to a psychiatrist or a good diagnostician. I tried to find the word you used in which you questioned the spelling but could not find anything on that. Sometimes people will call it psycho.
