Broken milk teeth?

When my son was two, he slipped on a tiled floor while running and broke four of his front teeth. It wasn't a particularly bad fall, but it led to quite a serious injury, leading me to beleive that his teeth were weak in the first place. One of his teeth was already quite weak (it had developed radiating cracks in the week before) but the others appeared quite healthy. His cousin (who is four months older than he is) also has the same problem - he fell and broke the same four front teeth as well.

Do you think this is a genetic weakness in those teeth or is it a result of a nutritional deficiency, decay etc.? Do you think his new regular set of teeth will come out normally or have the same weakness.

I took him to the dentist but he couldn't give me any additional information - suggested we take the wait and see approach.

Has anyone had a similar experience with their child's teeth?

When your son initially broke his teeth the dentist should have done x-rays to make sure the root wasn't damaged. Unfortunately, you will now have to take the "wait and see" approach. If the teeth aren't discolored I'm pretty sure there shouldn't be any damage for the adult teeth. Have you considered taking him to a pediatric dentist? It might be a good idea, even if it's only for a second opinion. Good luck!

I think some people get lucky with there teeth and some people dont. Could your son be eating a sugery diet?
