Is my ankle sprained? please answer i have a baby to take care of!? |
I got it caught between the wood on my deck and the ground and fell on my deck. it is very brused and i can't put any weight on it. will i end up needing cruches? I would advice you to go see a doctor. It could be sprained, but has a chance of being broken as well. Depending on the specifics you may need crutches. If you cannot put weight on it, you will likely need a Xray to check for fracture. You need to get to a doctor or Emergency Room for an Xray. It could be broken. In the meantime, bind it up tight, ice it, and keep it elevated. is it swollen? Have your husband or boyfriend take you to the ER to make sure you haven't broken or fractured anything first. Most likely it is just badly sprained, but since you've got a baby, you really need to be more careful, so see the doc first. There's no way anyone can diagnose it without an examination and x-ray. See a doctor. put ice on it Thur out the day to keep the swollen to go down. keep your foot elevated as much as you can. take an anti inflammatory like ibuprofen....also go to the ER ASP so they can take some X Rays. If you cannot move it, your in danger of a break. I would go to the ER. If you walk on it and you could worsen it. I've broken enough bones to know that if the pain is immense and you have little movement, then it's worth the trip to the ER. More than likely it is. It would be best to see a doctor for propper treatment. The best thing to do is try to stay off it as much as posiable. You won't be able to take care of the baby very well unless you go to the doctor. Call someone to come over and watch the child while you go to the Emergency Room to have an x-ray. Don't wait too long. They like to re-set broken bones as soon as possible. One thing I found out that they don't tell you too often is the hospital can send a taxi out to get you. Call your local hospital and find out if that could be the case for you. I missed an appointment one time because my friend overslept. I needed a driver due to the procedure...I couldn't drive myself back home. Anyway, the hospital told me they could have provided me with a taxi....after the fact. Tie your foot. Important do not put ice directly but apply it through a towel or cloth. It is important to take an x-ray if it is swollen to much. Calm down first. |
