Wife wants second baby too soon?

i m 27 yrs old & have a 5 months old baby girl. my wife wants to have a second baby now. firstly, she says that she is in the right mindset to upbring a baby as she is already doing it for our daughter. she says she remembers all aspects of maternity / pregnancy due to the recent birth of our baby. with time, she thinks she wil forget most of these things. secondly, she wants our two children to be in the same age-group so that they can be good companions.
but i think differently. As of now, one baby is fine for me. my job, baby, family, money matters, etc keep me very busy. i remain stressed out. as my wife is also working, taking care of baby becomes more difficult (we have hired a baby sitter). i want to giv a gap of 3-5 years before we think about the second one. also, i think my wife's body needs extra care since the first delivery was a caesarean one. but she is adamant. how shall i convince her to postpone plans for another baby for atleast next couple of year. she is 24 yrs.

I've been dealing with the same thing, but I realized that there isn't much of a difference in raising one baby or two. If you have the other baby now, they will both be 18 by the time you are 45 or 46. Then you and your wife will have plenty of free time to travel and do whatever you want.

If she is a stay at home mom like my wife, it will make more sense to have them close together because she will be able to get a career started to help out financially sooner. If you leave a big gap, instead of her staying home for 5 years, she must stay home for 8 -10 years before starting her career.

Children in the same age group will share the joys of growing up together. They will be closer because they will be either in the same grade at school, or 1 grade apart. Plus, if you have a son, he can protect your daughter at school.

Convince to wait three years...a three year age difference is perfect.

Perhaps she is right? Perhaps you are. I dont think you should persuade her - talk the positives and negatives through with her until you are one mind on the matter.

don,t wait too long a gap of 2-3 years max.if you wait too long you might decide against it as you like your lifestyle.

You may need to research this and consult a doctor for proper advice, but I heard recently on a news program, it was found that if you have a child within a year of giving birth to the first one, the second child is more likely to die. It's due to the fact that being pregnant and having a child takes so much out of you in terms of iron levels, and various vitamins and other important nurtients needed for pregnancy. If you lack in certain vitamins the child can have defects. It was suggested on this program, that you should wait atleast a year, because basically it takes the body atleast this long to fully recover from the pregnancy and the childbirth.

If she won't listen to how you feel, then she's being selfish. If she wants a baby, you had better stop having sex or she will 'win' this fight.
