I had a c- section that I recently strained (my abdomen & incision area)- my baby was born 6 weeks ago &? |
I occassionally have severe pain with the weather & overdoing chores, plus my baby is a big whopper (lol). Is it wrong to ask my ob/gyn for pain medicine, since I'm allergic to Motrin) aspirin & Tylenol don't always do the trick. I'm embarassed to ask for Lortab- since that helped me & I take better care of my baby when I'm not in pain. I feel it's too late to request a refill- I thank you all for the support! Ok first of all, the reason they allow 6-8 weeks for recovery after a C-section is so that you can rest. You should've been taking it easy for the past 6 weeks. Its ok to do light housework, but you shouldn't be over doing it. It would be ok to ask for a pain med, but you should be seen to be sure you haven't damaged something. However, just getting a pain med is not going to do it. You need to rest & let body heal. Don't be afraid to ask friends or family for help. No chick it's not wrong to ask your Dr. Make an appointment and go and see him. I've had 2 C-sections and suffered afterwards because I did too much too soon. I had a lump in my wound and it was a haematoma which had to be drained. You may have an infection and that's where the pain is coming from. So don't be embarrassed go and see your Dr and get it sorted so you can enjoy your baby. As you've already seen someone at the hospital it shouldn't really be a problem to get a repeat prescription :) No it isn't wrong to ask for medicine. believe me i know i have had a caesarean. And my baby was was a nine pounder. But its important to get extra help if possible. And rest when you can. And using heat packs to help when your sore. Because as sore as i was my doctor never gave me anything for the pain, but the above methods-and hopefully in your case a loving and caring partner who can share some of the load. Absolutely call and ask you doctor for a refill. Also for the first 6-8 weeks you should be lifting nothing heavier than your baby ( yes, it is safe to lift a nine-pounder!) It is also normal to have pain at the incision site for several months. |
