What happens if you wait 2 months into your pregnancy to get prenatal care?

Well I'm in another city right now visiting for the holidays and I have to wait to get back home to recieve prenatal care. I was just wondering if my baby will be alright if I waited until I got home to my own doctor.

I am not taking a prenatal pill or multivitamin, that's why I'm a little nervous

Probably, but it's not the best idea to wait 2 months.

As long as you're eating right, not having any problems, and taking a good prenatal vitamin, you should be o.k. If you're worried, you can see a practitioner where you are visiting for now.

Obviously, you are not that worried if you are too busy visiting people on the holidays. Go see a doctor!

Jessica, first congrats! Second, you will be fine until you get home after the holidays. Most Ob's aren't seeing patients through the holidays anyway. Most women don't even know they're pregnant until the second month, so I am sure you will be fine. Don't wait longer than 8-10 weeks, though. And be sure to take your prenatal vitamins!! Good Luck Honey!

I would call the local hospital and ask. some have a program called " ask a nurse " and they could give you more information on this.

I would say no tho only because it is the vital time that your baby needs nutrients and there are none for him/her. although, if you eat healthy and exercise daily, you should be ok.

Just to be safe tho. I'd check

It has only been relatively recently that women go in for prenatal check ups.. Most of the women in the world don't have that luxury today, and until modern medicine came into existence no one got early prenatal check ups.. There will be no automatic disaster if you wait, but that said however, for the optimum health of your precious growing baby,[ and for your health too] go as soon as possible to get checked

Your fine...your stressing over this is harder than not taking a vitamin. Remember women have been having babies for a thousand years with no prenatal.

The important thing about prenatal vitamins is the folic acid. It helps prevent miscarriage. You can pick them up, over the counter at any pharmacy. I would get them now, don't wait for your appointment. They are safe even if you're not pregnant.

you should be fine! most ob/gyn's dont see you until your about 9 or 10 weeks pregnant anyways, atleast none of mine did {and i have had several :) } the prenatal vitamins are available in any drug store, but if for some reason you cant find them, you can also take 2 flinstone vitamins a day!! sounds crazy, i know, but thats what my docs told me bc prenatals made me sick. i never took any kind of vitamins during my pregnancies, and my children are very healthy, so its really just a personal oppinion. After my first pregnancy my docs stopped prescribing me prenatals bc they knew they made me sick and i wouldnt take them!

congrats on the baby!!
