Help! my baby girl was told she has hiv. how do i console her shes only 17 and a lezbian how to handle? meds?

My twin daughter came to me and said while she was incarcerated they had tested her blood and, well the worst news any mother wants to hear...your child is dying HIV!??? not my family, not my baby, does God really work miracles? Can he give it to me and take it from her? Shes only 17 and it was her rapist who gave her this damn death sentence...I feel so helpless...I need some support from somewhere no-one seems to care or just not talk about it and maybe itll go away or maybe because she has alot of run-ins with trouble that she deserves it. well im sick of that crap!!!She doesnt deserve to die because of her attitude is that what we do is throw our used children out and abandone them when they need us more???help someone she refuses to go the doctor she wants to go naturally i cant stand the thought of having to bury my special baby girl even if she is a little gangster does she deserve this are those certain people right?

No one deserves to die from AIDS, and I am sorry you and your family have to go through this.
I know you love your daughter and right now while she is still under 18 you can take her to the Dr or hospital and get her treatment but when she turns 18 you have no control.
I don't know what else to tell you except to love her. Even when our children make bad choices we still love them and any mother can agree to that.
Please advise your daughter to seek help there is no cure for AIDS yet but with meds and proper care she may live a long time yet and a cure may be found.
A friend of mine died from AIDS about 8 years ago and she was a young woman with a child the child's father gave her the AIDS, her baby was affected too but the little girl is doing well. So there is hope as long as we are on this side of the grave there is hope.

This is the BEST answer? This is sad depressing and makes me wanna jump of a bridge! I'm HIV+ it is not a death sentence sheesh! AIDS and HIV are 2 different things.... Everyone who has AIDs has had hiv but everyone who has HIV does not have aids... Report It

most of the times we have to pay for the other people mistakes

you can only make her last times very happy.

now a days there r many antiviral drugs which dramatically increase the life span. go for that

My heart goes out to you. NO one deserves to have HIV or AIDS, no matter how they contracted the disease or what their lifestyle is.
As previously stated because your daughter is under 18 you can get her medical treatment and maybe by talking to a doctor she will come to understand how important it is to get treatment.

HIV is not curable, but it IS treatable. And she can live a long life. It is no longer a death sentence.

In March of 1990 by brother was diagnosed with AIDS, by the last of Sept 1990, he had died. But things are much different now.

We adopted a baby girl 2 1/2 years ago, she is HIV+, but is as healthily as can be. When we first got her and took her to UVA hospital to see the specialist, we asked him what her outcome for life would be. His comment to us was, "If you live long enough, you'll be able to see her grandchildren." She has to take lots of medicine, but her vial load is undetectable and her CD4 count is over 2800. Which is excellent.

My advice is to get informed as much as you can, find a good support group, and most importantly convince your daughter to go to the doctor.
