NJ state law only... methadone in baby?

does dyfs get called to hospital if a baby is born with low amounts of methadone-and no other drugs-in system?
1) mother has used NO OTHER DRUGS AT ANY TIME AROUND/DURING PREGNANCY
2) mother made best effort to lower dose with OBGYN assitance without causing fetal distress/death from her withdrawl... she will likely be OFF methadone relatively soon, before birth, but just incase she goes into fetal distress she would have to stay on methadone or the baby can die!

please help- my sister, a very GOOD mother who has a nice home, a smart great, healthy little kid who is very close to her mother and very well cared for, is so terrified of losing her child to abusive black hole of foster care that she is in tears and anxiety almost every day and i am afraid that she is stressing her system... i can't seem to find the answer to this question anywhere, hospitals give evasive answers, child services don't list their policies to the public... we've seen scary stories of CPS abusing power...

If the Methodone is legally prescribed & your sister has been keeping regular appointments with specialists then this should count FOR her.

I get really mad at junkie mothers who stick themselves with heroin while carrying so good on your sister for having the desire to make a change for the good of her unborn child...so many women just don't care.


OOPS....just read the rest of your added bits & saw that she isn't trying to kick a habit but on the meth for pain.....it is awful stuff. Has she had hallucinations yet? Anyway, good luck to her (even if she was trying to kick a habit she still needs good luck wishes from people).
