Can my baby get it?

A cpl years ago I got genital warts, got that all took care of but I had the HPV virus f/m the warts and I went through the whole papsmear every 4mths and stuff but my last three have been normal...so that means the virus is gone right? Is there anything that I can pass on to my baby when we decide to have one f/m that?

Transmission from mother to baby is quite rare - usually vaginal birth is recommended unless the lesions are present.

If the mother is thought to have a transmissible condition that the baby can get coming through the birth canal, then usually Caesarian Section is recommended.

I myself have never seen genital warts affecting a baby, transmitted from the mother during delivery. However obstetrics is not my specialty.

However, a brief look on the net shows that it's rare.

No it doesn't mean that it's gone. HPV is a virus and you will have it forever no matter what you do. There are no cures for it. The thing with HPV is that you can be broke out with the warts inside your vagina and not know it. If you have a vaginal birth then you are running the risk of passing it on to your baby. If you tell your doctor about it when you do your birth planning then they should set you up to have a C-section. If you do have a C-section then you are most likely to not pass it on to your baby. You can still pass it on to your sex partner though, even if you aren't showing signs of having warts you can still pass it. You should tell anyone that you are having sex with about it as well.
