I'm babysitting a sick baby! HELP!!!!!!? |
I'm staying with my cousins and taking care of them this week. Well one of the kids (he's 2) started running a low grade fever which continued on to the next day. Tues morning he had a rash all over his chest which continued to spread, they're little red bumbs. Today he still has a fever but last time I checked it was at 100.4 and today he also has a redish- purple bump on his eyelid and his eye is swollen. And where should I be taking his temp? Well you should let his Mother know about this asap so that she can take him to his Doctor/Pediatrician. You should ask his parents permission before doing anything like taking the toddler's temperature which should usually be taken rectally(Up his rectum with some vaseline) or axillary meaning under the arm(armpit). Good Luck ..also babies to toddlers temperature usually runs a little bit higher than us adults. Again check with the babies parents to act upon the temperature and his rash. the rash in question could also be a symptom due to the rising of the temperature or if they are all over like you say, it just might be anything from Eczema, rubella, measles, chicken pox, roseola, etc... that is why its important to have the Doctor Correctly diagnose the problem. You need to call the child's mother so she can take him to the doctor. Take him to the doctor! His temp should be taken under his arm pit. As for help, I suggest you take him to see a doctor, pronto. See if there are any clinics in the area, if not go to a neighbor and ask about doctors in the area. ok first u dont hurry that may be a viral fever put a wet cloth on baby let the baby put on fluids artificially then u bother about reading of temp because nothing u can do at that time by recording the temp and other thing as a doctor i strongly recommend the primary care as i told then only go for others so supportive care is imp ok In case of kids we can record it under the arm pit or rectally that will be 1 degree more You need to get the child to a Dr. It may be nothing serious but it is better to make sure it is nothing serious. Know one on here can tell you if it is serious or not only a Dr. that sees the child can do that. I will tell you why you should get him to a Dr. though. When I was a child I broke out in a rash and had a fever. I was only sick about a week and when my mom called the Dr. he said it sounded like fifth disease and if she didn't want to there was no need for him to see me that I would be fine. Well guess what on August 11 I had aheart attack I'm only 37 so the Dr. couldn't figure out why. With a battery of tests the Dr. found out I must of had Kawasaki disease as a child. This isn't a real common disease but some kids do get it and usually under the age of five. With the proper treatment when I was a kid I would not have had a heart attack later in life. So please don't play around with this kids life It would be better to make sure that it is nothing serious. |
