Can Epilepsy be passed down to a child?

My 18 month old baby just had a violent siezure today, she also had a high fever which may have triggered it, I was just wondering (since I had epilepsy as a child) if it may have been passed down.
I will have her examined tommorrow by her primary care doctor, just need to ease my mind for the evening

Children who have seizures due to fever, does not mean they have epilepsy due to their genetics. The website below, discusses children, fever and seizures, please read that to get a better understanding and also for a self-care at home guide.

I have epilepsy and none of my kids have been afflicted with it so I don't think so. It could be from something else but I could be wrong

you shouldnt "pass "a child at all. you should handel them gently if you absolutly feel youve got to pass something try a football

Is she crying very loud and out of breath? this could throw a child into a fit ,most often into unconsciousness.
Center for disease control is now finding where most of our diseases come from. first off go have your blood analyzed and ask how many foreign chemicals are in your blood a university chemist. you will be astonished to find over 700 that should not be in your body and yes these chemicals can linger throughout your life. it is what you eat, and if you have taken meds and been around DDT when did you first notice when your first episode was?. rid yourself of these toxins and eat naturally grown foods that can be purchased at a natural food store. drink plenty of fresh wheat weed. Boil slowly this promotes the immune system to work better. Read the book.."The big lie" for more info. most all diseases are caused my chemicals we acquire throughout our life. Food eaten and most importantly drugs pushed by the pharmaceutical complex.

i have been told that it can be passed down. i have epilepsy so my doctors always ask if there is any family history dealing with epilepsy. this does NOT mean that your child does/will have epilepsy. the baby may just have a fever that triggered a seizure without having anything else involved. Though you might agree with me (because you had epilepsy) that having epilepsy is not that bad.
