Do I have enough eggs?

I am 21 years old and I am not planning to have a baby any time soon, but I feel like when I want to someday I will not be able to. Here's the story....

When I first got my period (around 13) it was NEVER normal. I mean 5-7 months without getting it. At first I didn't care I was young and quite frankly, it freaked me out.

When I started to have sex (around 18) I decided to go on birth control. It was mandatory for me because my period was always so late anyway. I could not deal with a late period while I was sexually active because I would never know I was pregnant. It would drive me crazy.

Anyway, I just wanted to know if maybe I do not have many eggs and thats why my body only releases them every 6 months instead of every month?? Now that I'm on BC my period is fine. I'm just scared that I will never be able to have a child because that's one of the greatest things I ever want to do. My doctor says its not true, but my doctor is very short and didn't really listen to my concerns

I had the same problem and I just recently figured it out with a doctor, so hopefully my answer can reassure you!

The number of eggs you have does not affect how often you ovulate AT ALL. My gyno told me that the reason my period came every several months was that sometimes the signal to ovulate from the brain does not reach the ovaries.

If you're still not ovulating regularly by the time you want to have kids, there are several hormonal pills you can take that will make you ovulate on a regular basis.

Don't worry one bit, sweetie!

Go to the doctors and find out. We can't tell you If you have enough eggs.

When you are born you have roughley 450,000 eggs. That is more then to last a lifetime.
The eggs do not start to do anything till about puberty.

Sounds like ya need more eggs girl. You can get all ya want at Publix supermarket. Hope this helped you out. Your Buddy Bob xoxoxoxoxo

Your doc is right on this one. Like Irony said, you were born with roughly 450,000 eggs. Its not the number of eggs that make you irregular but its a problem with your hormones. That's why you're regular now with the BC, which are hormones by the way. A good thing about BC is that sometimes after you are on it for a while, your cycle becomes regular even if you get off it.
