RSV in Daycares? |
I work in a daycare were RSv has been confirmed with 2 babies so far....My boss acts like it is no big deal..And she has not even told any of the parents that it has been in our daycare..I have told the parents..and she was not real happy..i know that I am not worng for telling them...But she does not even act like it is a big deal..what should I do to make sure it is taken care of.... You did the right thing. You could get some backup help from the CDC or local Health Department. This virus is very contagious & can be deadly to children under 2 years, to children who have chronic lung disease (ie, asthma, BPD), & those that were born prematurely. Please advise your co-workers to practice strict handwashing & be sure to sanitize toys & play areas. Thank you for being a child advocate. You are right to tell the parents. You can call the Health Department. I believe you can do it anonymously. Of course your boss already knows you are reporting it so the anon is prob not needed. If you don't get any help there call the Children's protective service (where abuse is reported) and report what is occurring. GL |
